Stuffed and Baked Plantains!
Video By: Tiffany Eliza
Looking for some latin flare in your dessert? Look no further with Plátanos Asados Rellenos!
This recipe was created by my grandmother and is a traditional spin on the classic baked plantain.
What You Need:
Plantain(s)
Guava(s)
Columbian cheese (Mozzarella cheese for substitution)
Melted butter (Optional)
Basting brush
Non stick baking sheet or baking sheet with wax paper
NOTE: To start, pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees!
How To:
Hollow out a section of the plantain using 2 vertical cuts parallel to each other to create the boat.
Use the basting brush to cover the plantain in melted butter (if necessary).
Once brushed, cut thin layers of the cheese and lay them along the the crevice of the plantain.
Take your guava strips and place them in between the cheese and plantain to ensure they don't fall out when baking.
Place on a non stick sheet or wax paper tray and bake for 20-30 minutes or until the plantain becomes golden brown. Bake until preferred color is achieved.
Cut up to preference and enjoy!
Send us pictures of the final results. Who can get the nicest golden brown plantain?
