Active Indoor Games for Kids

5 great games for the kids to play inside. Not everyday is going to be sunny and nice out. Try some of these indoor games and let us know what you think!
1. Land, Sea, Air
Instructions:
Pick a spot on the ground with a natural line such as a tile or place a small piece of tape on the floor. Identify behind the line as land, in front of the line as sea, and jumping directly up as air. Say the commands land, sea, and air in no particular order. If they do not go to the directed spots in order, have them do 3 jumping jacks!
2. Indoor Basketball
Instructions: Be creative with household objects to create a ball and a hoop. Practice taking shots from different spots, or even play “HORSE”.
3. Maze Game
Instructions: Create a checkerboard pattern on the floor with pillows, tape, or even paper. One square should be “Start” and one should be “Exit”. Draw a hidden pattern on paper that the kids must follow in order to get through the maze. Have them move through and try to guess the pattern. If they go in the wrong square, they go back to “Start”.
4. Jumping Contests
How high can you jump? How far can you jump? This is a great way to get out energy! Even set up ‘markers’ on the wall with tape for the kids to try and reach.
5. Huckle Buckle Beanstalk
Instructions: Pick an object and hide it in plain sight in the house. Have the kids search around the house for the object with their hands behind their backs. When they see the object, they discreetly say “Huckle Buckle Beanstalk” and then sit on the couch. Once everyone has found the object, a new person hides it.
